π About Sunrise
Sunrise is the highest point you can reach by car in Mount Rainier National Park, sitting around 6,400 feet on the mountain's northeast side. It opens later in the season than Paradise and holds snow longer.
The area is a world of subalpine ridges, wildflower meadows, and open views straight across to Rainier and the Emmons Glacier β the largest glacier in the contiguous United States. A network of ridge trails fans out from the parking area, including the route to the historic Mount Fremont fire lookout.
