The project
Stateside is a travel-planning project built to make exploring the United States easier, clearer, and more inspiring. 🗺️ It brings together curated road trips, city guides, scenic stops, hikes, parks, viewpoints, and local landmarks in one place—without forcing visitors to piece everything together from dozens of tabs.
The project was created to turn trip research into practical, ready-to-use itineraries. Each guide focuses on the details that actually matter: how long to stay, what to see, which stops are optional, where reservations are required, how difficult a hike is, and what to check before you go. 🚗🥾
Visitors can browse destinations, compare shorter and longer routes, discover nearby attractions, open official and trail references, and build a trip that matches their available time and travel style. Whether you are planning a national park road trip, a weekend in Seattle, or a scenic island escape, Stateside helps you move from “Where should I go?” to a realistic plan. ✨

About Me
I’m Roman, a Senior Software Engineer building scalable backend, full-stack, cloud-native, and AI-powered systems. My work focuses on reliable platforms that support secure access, asynchronous processing, high-volume operations, and maintainable user experiences.
My technical background includes Python, FastAPI, Go, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Airflow, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions. I have built API platforms, queue-based workers, event-driven workflows, authorization models, caching strategies, observability solutions, and production cloud infrastructure. ⚙️☁️
I also work with RAG, LangChain, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot to improve search, automation, specification-driven development, and engineering workflows while keeping architecture, correctness, security, and human judgment at the center. 🤖
Beyond coding, I contribute through system design, technical leadership, mentoring, and close collaboration across engineering and product teams.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, road trips, national parks, and discovering places beyond the usual tourist routes. 🏔️🚗 I created Stateside to combine those interests into a practical travel platform with clear itineraries, trusted references, and detailed destination guides across the United States. 🇺🇸✨
