Winthrop is an Old-West themed town in the Methow Valley on the dry, eastern side of the North Cascades. Its wooden boardwalks and frontier-style storefronts make it a distinctive base for exploring the range.

For road trippers, Winthrop is the natural eastern hub for the North Cascades Highway and the launch point for a dedicated Maple Pass day. It offers dinner, fuel, lodging, and supplies before the high-country hikes to the west.

Winthrop sits at the eastern end of the North Cascades Highway (SR 20). It has ample town parking and services. Reach it before dark when arriving over the passes.

No fees apply to the town. Book lodging ahead in peak summer and on fall larch weekends, when rooms fill fast.
